In late March of 2020, students of Visual Arts at Nepean TAFE, along with the rest of Australia and much of the world, were sent into lockdown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

An emergency conversion from in-person to online delivery of practical subjects was implemented. It was no easy feat, but after many man-hours by TAFE staff in several departments, courses carried on unhindered. A new way to access Nepean TAFE Visual Arts education was born.

For much of the year, students tuned in to practical classes remotely. The high standard of tuition by Nepean’s experienced teachers continued, notwithstanding occasional practical and technical challenges, and students’ commitment to learning never wavered.

A testament to the resilience and adaptability of everyone involved, this website presents the 2020 art of  eight students in the Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts - painters, photographers, ceramicists and print-makers, as well as information about their graduation exhibition – Space Between Us – from November 19th to 27th.

The resulting bodies of work, under such extraordinary circumstances, speak for themselves.
